Service Above Self

With more than 1.2 million members in 33,000 clubs worldwide, Rotary club members are volunteers who work locally, regionally, and internationally to combat hunger, improve health and sanitation, provide education and job training, promote peace, and eradicate polio under the motto Service Above Self.

Stamford Rotary Trust Fund offers non-renewable, one-year scholarships to students with financial need who display academic achievement, a commitment to serving others (in school, in the community or at home), a strong work ethic, and leadership qualities. Graduating high school seniors who meet the criteria are encouraged to apply. Scholarship recipients will be required to show proof of matriculation.

Application Criteria

To be eligible for the Stamford Rotary Scholarship, you must be a graduating high school senior residing in Stamford, CT, and demonstrate a strong commitment to improving the quality of life for people in your school, community and/or the world at large. Eligible students must be entering post-secondary school in Summer or Fall 2024.

Requirements

  • Proof of Stamford residency
  • Minimum 3.5 GPA, high school transcript required
  • Community Service Hours (Interact hours count)
  • Essay Question: “How has community service changed your outlook about society?”  (No more than 2 pages)
  • Student Involvement: Activities/club, where possible demonstrate your leadership qualities 
  • Letters of Recommendations – 2 required
    • At least one letter of recommendation from teachers or guidance counselors
    • One letter of recommendation from a leader of an outside service organization, to which you have volunteered
